Sophie Morgan

After leaving school Sophie decided that she would like to work with children with special needs. After visiting her local connexions office she contacted VTS to enquire about starting her Early Years level 2 NVQ.

Soon after this Sophie started her course and worked at a local child care facility close to her home. Because Sophie had a clear career objective she was able to tailor her NVQ to give her the knowledge and skills specific to that sector.

Sophie's assessor visited her in the workplace on a regular basis to observe her carrying out day to day tasks and to support her with the collation of other evidence that could be included in her portfolio.

In just over a year Sophie successful completed her NVQ and was ready to progress to her level 3 course that she completed two years later.

Due to a change of personal circumstance, Sophie was forced to re-evaluate her career, and decided that she could use her qualifications to become a professional childminder. To ensure that Sophie was able to continue her NVQ, her assessor visited her at home to provided the additional support she needed. Two years after starting, Sophie successfully completed her level 3 NVQ and is now busy starting up her own childminding service.
