Aged 16-18? Would you like a career in Childcare but can’t find an employer?
A Programme-Led Apprenticeship with VTS could help! A PLA will enable you to:
How does a Programme-Led Apprenticeship work?
Because a Programme-Led Apprentice is not employed at the start of the training, it removes the barriers that employers often have about employing untrained people. However, once you start you’ll be working towards industry-recognised qualifications that will raise you to the right level for an employer to consider taking you on.
What’s the difference between a Programme-Led Apprentice, and an employed Apprentice?
A Programme Led Apprentice is the same as an employed Apprentice in so far as you’ll be achieving the same qualifications. The difference is that you don’t have to be employed to start the programme. We’ll supply you with training, based at either our Westcliff or Colchester centres that will lead to you achieving parts of the Apprenticeship Framework – the Technical Certificate and Key Skills – so you’ll have more to offer when we match you to an employer. We’ll also teach you about Employment Rights and Responsibilities. It’s not just theoretical training – it’s training for a specific career in the real world. You can also get an Education Maintenance Allowance, if you’re eligible.
What are the entry requirements?
You don’t need GCSE’s or A levels – we’ll ask you to complete an initial assessment (to make sure this is the right course for you) and have an interview with the course tutor.
How do I get a job?
From the moment you start, we’ll be matching you to employers. At VTS, we’ve been training in Childcare across Essex for the last fifteen years, so we know quite a few employers! As soon as a successful match is made and you become employed, you can start work and carry on with Apprenticeship training. This can happen at any time in your course, although of course we can make no guarantees.
What happens when I complete the course?
Once you’ve achieved your Apprenticeship Framework at NVQ level 2, if it’s appropriate you can move on to your level 3 Framework (equivalent to 2 A levels.) After that, you can go on to higher education and Degree level studies if you want to!
