Paediatric First Aid - 2 Day

This course is designed for individuals who work with young children and was developed to meet the course programme as laid down by the NCMA and Pre-School Learning Alliance to meet the requirements of the National Standards for the purpose of registering as a professional Child Carer.

All Child minders in England and Wales are required to have a valid pediatric first aid qualification preferably upon registration if not within six months of receiving their registration certificate.

This 12 hour course normally runs over 2 days and includes the following topics:

  • Role of a First Aider
  • Accident reporting and the first aid box
  • Action Planning
  • Primary Assessment & Secondary Assessments
  • Recovery Position
  • Infant and Child Rescue Breaths and CPR
  • Infant and Child Choking
  • Head Injuries
  • Bleeding, Shock and Burns
  • Sprains, Strains and Fractures
  • Poisoning, Bites and Stings
  • Eye, Nose and Ear Obstructions
  • Childhood Conditions
  • Asthma, Diabetes and Seizures
  • Allergic Reactions and Anaphylactic Shock

Continuous assessment by the course trainer ensures that successful candidates receive a certificate valid for 3 years at the end of the course.
