What are Business and Administration Apprenticeships?

Business and Administration Apprenticeships provide learners with skills needed to progress in a business support role. Areas covered include administration, communication, providing reception services, IT skills and some specialist areas.

Level 2

Is level 2 right for me?

Level 2 will suit you if you are working in a business support role. You’ll be interested in learning how to carry out everyday administrative tasks.

The qualification at level 2 comprises:

Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration

Diploma in Business Support.

You will complete a number of mandatory units including:
• Principles of personal responsibilities and working in a business environment
• Principles of providing administrative services
• Principles of managing information and producing documents.

You can choose from a range of Optional units, including:
• Principles of supporting change in a business environment
• Principles of working in the public sector
• Principles of project management
• Principles of contributing to innovation and change.

Level 3

Is level 3 right for me?

Level 3 is ideal if you have worked in an administrative role for some time. You’d like to prepare to move into a leadership role by learning how to effectively supervise others and contribute to change in your department or organisation.

The qualification at level 3 comprises:

Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration

Diploma in Business Support.

Mandatory units include:

• Principles of personal responsibilities and how to develop and evaluate your own performance at work
• Principles of working with and supervising others in a business environment
• Principles of managing information and producing documents in a business environment
• Principles of providing and maintaining administrative services

You can choose from a range of optional units, including:
• Principles of supporting change in a business environment
• Principles of project management
• Principles of contributing to innovation and change.

As part of the Apprenticeship at both levels, you will also undertake:
• Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT
• Personal Learning and
• Thinking Skills.

What are the entry requirements?

You should be working at least to entry level in English and Maths (we will determine this by initial assessment prior to the Apprenticeship commencing). You must be employed in a relevant job role and working at least 30 hours per week.

Under the Government’s Apprenticeship Reforms of 2017,  employers have to make a contribution to the cost of training . We’ll discuss and agree this before carrying out an Initial Assessment with each individual learner, which could lead to enrolment if this qualification is appropriate.
