With twenty years experience of providing Apprenticeships to local young people, Vocational Training Services has a great reputation for excellence and customer satisfaction, as our clients and learners will confirm.

“Your tutor is amazing—she makes being at college enjoyable. She makes lessons fun and entertaining but at the same time really interesting.”

We at VTS genuinely care about our learners and their future and have built up a delivery team that we genuinely believe is the best you will find. We’re an award-winning company – in April 2012 our Operations Manager, Elizabeth Buxton, was awarded the City and Guilds Medal for Excellence, and was also named Innovator of the Year for her work in Child Care. She then went on to receive the Royal seal of approval as she received the City and Guilds Presidents Award from The Princess Royal at Buckingham Palace – this is the highest award that City and Guilds can offer – only one person per year can receive it. This award was given after meticulous research by City and Guilds based on the experiences and words of our learners, who could not speak highly enough of the training they received. Although it was Elizabeth who received the award, it could have been any one of our tutors as they all share the same values and philosophy.

To prove this, in 2014 our assessor/tutor Kim Allen also won the Medal for Excellence and two other staff assessors were selected from thousands to be invited to the IFL in Nottingham to receive their Qualified Teacher Status certificates. Proof that if you train with VTS you are in very safe hands.

“I liked how VTS treats everybody as an individual, helps them in their choices and encourages them to succeed”

IMG_2127After you’ve applied to us online, we’ll ask you to come and see us at either our Westcliff or Colchester centre, show you round and have a chat, and then try to find you an Apprenticeship position. This will mean going for an interview with a local company we’ve been working with – after all, we’ve been here for twenty years and know most local companies! – and if you get accepted then we’ll come and visit you at work regularly to help you gain your Apprenticeship qualification.

Over the years, we’ve worked with many hundreds of employers, large and small across Essex and the Eastern Region. Our clients include hospitals, schools, special schools, community groups, charities, private residential and nursing care homes, community care services, nurseries, dentists, playgroups and after school groups. VTS trainers/Assessors are always occupationally qualified professionals such as nurses, nursery nurses and qualified teacher/tutors. This ensures that all training and assessment is delivered to the highest standards and that all our learners get the most from their training.

“Before I started with VTS I had a really negative view on learning. But when your tutor started teaching, my views changed—she makes me want to achieve and do well!”

We now have a direct Skills Funding Agency contract and have forged excellent working relationships and partnerships with organisations including South Essex college, Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, numerous employers throughout the Eastern Region and are working closely with Sector Skills Councils including Skills for Care in marketing and providing innovative training solutions, including introducing the new level 5 Higher
Apprenticeships.

But however successful we become, we’ll never forget why we’re here—to supply training with care and integrity to people who need, more than any other occupational area, to be competent in their work and able to prove it.

In our opinion this is simply more important than anything else.
